After embarking on the trial hobby of collar making for a personal enjoyment and the possibility of great gifts for like minded friends it seems to have suddenly grown into receiving requests for custom collars at one end of the scale to leashes for the police force at the other. I didnt plan or expect this but im enjoying it so much it seems a shame not to get some of my collars out there.
If your interested in a collar similar to examples i show here or you have some ideas of your own id be happy to help you out, for some of you one collar is enough but then there are folk like myself who are always looking for that something a little different to the last one.
My inspirations began with the old school molosser collars that I saw worn by the dogs of my fancy which unfortunately were only there to look at , never available to get my hands on or buy. On my travels i was often shown old school collars kept by families who owned for many generations property guardians with wonderful stories to go with them, occasionally romantacised but then there were those examples that still wore those collars which i defiantly could not get my hands on ....they told stories of their own.
Flavio Bruno who has become a great friend kept his collection which i would regularly handle to study the construction, visits to Leeds Castle in the UK where there is a wonderful display . My own examples of which there are many collected and gifted to me over the years and of course the likes of Eduard of MolossMaster creating examples which help with ideas .
Well ,with hand made custom collars each one stands apart and i have set my standards high trying always to better the last in design or construction in hope that once in your hands you will know its a Contado Collar.
Well practice makes perfect and i feel confident in what im turning out , with the help of a few friends ive found fittings i couldn't get my hands on.... in particular HK Jon who is currently working on a series of 4 collars with me . One each willl be kept by Jon and myself and the other 2 will be gifted to influential friends in Dogdom, i look forward to showing our combined efforts but for now here are some collars ive finished recently. OMG...I think your leather work is Amazing! I'm also a big fan of metal used in this fashion. It shows amazing quality in the pictures, plus it apeals to my working heart as well-If you are planning on selling any, I am so gonna need to talk with you! Absolutely Beautiful, do you by any chance have anything with Dragons etched on the metal?
