I use the mesh type muzzle on my male whenever i must clip his nails. He absolutely H A T E S getting them clipped and i have tried EVERYTHING to no avail, so until the day comes he learns to LOVE it or accept it, its me, him and the MUZZLE !!
Where did you get your muzzle? When you say mesh do you mean it is like a basket muzzle, just woven?
Jess...Some people around me have shown some uneasiness around Sirus...Thought I would look into muzzle training just in case, and am looking for a basket type muzzle. I have just been having a hard time trying to find something big enough...And do not want to order something that would be too small.

So people are uneasy with Sirus around F them. I have the same problem Juno is a big boy for his age and people tend to get out of the way. Are you afraid that he may bite someone? I tend to think when i see a dog with a muzzle that the dog may bite. So I think you will be doing the opposite if that is what you are trying to avoid. Well good luck with your search and please keep us posted.
I agree with you there Anthony....I use the halter lead for Jaz' my bordeaux and it seems that people always assume that its a muzzle and get real nervous and always ask. vampyresangel have you seen the nail grinder? I have a hard time with one of my dogs, it seemed to always hurt her when I do her nails.....now its a breese...maybe worth checking out for you.

I was actually thinking about the grinder type Jess. Thank you. This last time i tried the "gillotine" type and OMFG "I" cried all day after using them stupid things on him. It was a total DISASTER. His nails were just wayyyy to thick for that type and it wound up splitting a couple of his nails instead of cutting through them and they were brand new so they were not dull. But i am going to try the grinder next. will let u know how it goes.
Sirus, the mesh type of muzzle i have is a soft nylon type. I have seen the "cage" type and its not like that one. Hope that helps, im not real good at describing things lol. It works for the very short period of time i have it on him, dont know if i'd trust it for something more serious. I found it at PETSMART. I like it bcuz its soft and it forms to his muzzle.
Thanks for the tip Jessica.

Oh geez no...I have no worries of Sirus biting someone else. We did a little sleeve training and he would only bite for me and tug on me...No matter how much he was agitated by the other person...Guess his guarding days are done
I took Dakota to the vet and she used to give him a look that he felt would warrant a muzzle the cage type so he asked me to put it on. I didnt for one minute believe she would bite him but entertained him by trying to put her in a muzzle so he gave me the biggest he had. Didnt fit slipped off and she growled at him and wagged her tail at me more or less saying hahahahahaha Now she is very co operative with him and he always stays towards her rear. When he came to the house to give the pups their first injections as I had no transport and he is just across the street I put her away so that he could do the injections. She has learnt to open the fire door with her paw and lunged at him and while in mid air I shouted 'down' she dropped to the floor. He went white and said he had never seen such control of a dog in many years. I only answered if I cant control my dogs then I would not own them. She gave him a funny look and went to her bed. She seems to sense he is afraid because around small children and friends she is always guarded but never agressive. I dont need to clip my dogs nails they seem to grind them off when out walking. Pretty glad really.
